It is my subconscious mind that urged me to write, and this collection of poems is a product of my feelings as man, husband and lover of life. I now share these feelings with the public and I only wrote what was burning inside of me. My only wish is that after going through these pages, you (the reader) do not remain the same – M Malgas (author)
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Maphelo Malgas was born and raised in the village of Caba in the southern zone of Tsomo, Eastern Cape. He likes to read widely and is a keen observer of changes that are taking place in South Africa. He is very passionate about new knowledge and continuous improvement, and also very much dislikes complacency.
He has acquired an Engineering diploma from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, a bachelor’s degree from Durban University of Technology and a Masters degree from University of KwaZulu-Natal Graduate School of Business. He now works for WZ Capital, a venture Capital firm based in Johannesburg. Maphelo resides in Kempton Park with his wife and son.
Maphelo lives by Ghandi’s words “to be the change you want to see in the world”. As a young boy growing up in the village, Maphelo started reading anything he could find. It was at university that he was exposed to Marxist literature and also got to be exposed to the writings of Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Mosibudi Mangena and Steve Biko. These writings shaped his thinking and his world outlook hence he became a member and some point a leader of the Black Consciousness movement in its various formations.
He now devotes his time in entrepreneurial thought and is reading Philosophy at the University of Pretoria. He enjoys travelling and is also an amateur photographer.
