How to deliver a manuscript |
|
Authors
must deliver the completed, fully edited work as an electronic
document (a WORD document or TXT file). It should be clear and concise,
written in English (or language of choice) with correct spelling and good sentence structure.
We would need one complete hard copy print-out of the manuscript so we
can follow page-by-page, ensuring that all formatting is followed and
to know where sections start, and where images/tables/graphics are to
be placed in the text. *
Any graphics such as photos, drawings, charts or graphs we are happy to
scan if it is less than 5 images then this would be included in the publishing
package price. If there are more than 5 images, then we will have to quote
for the additional images that need scanning.
If you wish to scan them yourself, please ensure that the resolution is
of a high quality. The Author may supply a sketch of the cover plus artwork to be used, i.e. illustration or photograph. We will do our very best to match your idea. Submission:
We will send you a confirmation e-mail of acceptance and a manuscript
number. Only once we have received all the information and payments required,
will we begin the publishing process, which could take anything from 1
week to 6 weeks. |
Book Templates (Size, Font & Format) We, at New Voices Publishing, are looking at making it easy for the author to self-publish - offering a variety of templates to choose from with different styles, fonts and sizes. The choice of fonts have been carefully selected for ease of reading and the book sizes are from a standard pocketbook size to an A4 size text book - depending on what the author is looking for. (see Book Options 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5) These templates can be “mixed and matched”, e.g. Book Option 1) trim size with Book Option 4) font & size. The author is not limited by these templates - consider them a guide if you have a specific size in mind.
*
The Book Options are in PDF format and can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat

New Voices Publishing does not guarantee any volume of sales for The Work. The author is solely responsible for the marketing of his/her book. The author must realize that publishing a book is very speculative! There are no guarantees! The webpage is included in the Publishing Package and is the only marketing service offered by New Voices Publishing. From the sales of this webpage, New Voices Publishing will pay the Author 50% royalties based on "Net Publisher Print Receipts," which equal the payments the Publisher receives from sales of the Work from the website bookstore, less bank charges, (shipping and handling charges are a seperate cost). Royalty cheques will be issued on the 15th (fifteenth) business day bi-annually (June and December) as long as the royalties are in excess of R100.00. If royalties are not R100.00 or more, the money will be carried over to the next Royalty payment date until the balance exceeds R100.00. New Voices Publishing will send The Author a statement of account of sales of the Work on a bi-annual basis. The Author has the right to purchase copies of the printed Work at Publisher price plus 10%. All Author payments must be made in advance, and New Voices Publishing will not pay royalties on direct sales made to the Author. |
| Author Responsibilities |
When
publishing with a P O D publisher the author is responsible in providing
the completed, edited text of the book to the publisher.
Additionally, the author is responsible for obtaining permissions to reprint
any previously copyrighted work (e.g. images or photographs). The author
is also responsible for paying the publishing services fee required by
the publisher on the payment schedule agreed upon. Generally, what the
author gives to the publisher is what gets published. No editing or proofreading
is done by the publisher, unless the author pays an additional fee for
that service. The author is responsible for proofing the typeset & designed book pages. If the proofreading corrections take more than 1 hour, than the publisher will charge R100.00 per hour thereafter. Therefore, it is VERY important that the author takes the time to review the work prior to the final submission to the publisher to make sure that the text is EXACTLY as the author would like to see it in the finished book. Since book publishing involves the coordination of many details, it is essential that the author is fully aware of what is contained in the publishing agreement. The author is solely responsible for the marketing of his/her book. The webpage is included in the Publishing Package and is the only marketing offered by New Voices Publishing. The author must realize that publishing a book is very speculative! There are no guarantees! Of course, every author is excited about his/her work and feels that the information that they have sweated over and poured onto the page will benefit someone in one way or another. In most cases, the author is correct! Most books contain some bit of wisdom, information or entertainment value, thus all authors should pursue publication! With all the publishing options available to an author in today’s marketplace an author no longer needs to place a manuscript on the shelf to gather dust! There is no right or wrong method of publishing, so for this reason, the author should choose the method of publishing that achieves the goals that fits his or her budget and lifestyle. |
