About the Book:

"Over the last couple of years, Omoseye Bolaji has focused on writing regular short columns for newspapers, magazines, and journals. These columns have been essentially forthright, informative and gripping. This new book contains a selection of such shorter writings of the author.
Here, in these miscellaneous writings, Bolaji delves into a wide range of topics (including Facebook!) But essentially his focus, as one would expect, is very much on the genre of literature, plus a lot of football too. There is more than enough for everybody on the whole though, with other topics like painting, music, social issues, outcasts, etc touched on in these short essays.
Part Two of this work contains some essays which focus on Omoseye Bolaji's creative work; most of these essays are new; all of them hitherto unpublished in book form. The essay on Bolaji's short stories I am very much enamoured with; plus the overview of the "Tebogo Mystery series" created and written by Bolaji.
For me however, I must stress that this new work is, inter alia, a wonderful introduction to African and general literature over the decades in particular. All lovers of the world of writing, and interesting short essays in general, must get a copy!"

- Pule Lechesa (April 2011)

About the Author:

When Omoseye Bolaji was conferred with the Chancellor's Medal by the University of the Free State (2007), it put the seal of approbation on a talented, fecund African writer. Bolaji is well known as an author of riveting fiction, poetry, criticism, biographies, and a play. In recent times (2011/2011) Bolaji has shifted focus to writing short stories and columns, contributing the same to a medley of international magazines and journals. This book contains a selection of such miscellaneous writings: brief, informative, sparkling, introspective; often humorous and dazzling. Not surprisingly, the author touches on many aspects of the world of literature, including fascinating writers and their books. Protagonists, plus topics dwelt on here include:
DH Lawrence * Chinua Achebe * Lewis Nkosi * Steve Biko * The NELM (Grahamstown) * Nigerian, and South African writers * Camara Laye * Dambudzo Marechera * Facebook * Ola Rotimi * Gabriel Okara * The Illustrators * Segun Odegbami * Sheila Khala * Teboho Masakala * Relativity of Poverty * Musical Maestros * Ghana and South Africa 2010 * Gordon Banks * NMM Duman * Horrific Murders/Rape * The allure of Father Christmas! * Plight of the tormentone.

"This work is, inter alia, a wonderful introduction to African and general literature over the decades in particular"
– Pule Lechesa (literary critic)
