About
the Book: the question was seeded years ago whilst photographing news subjects at their homes during my 17-year stint as a photojournalist at the cape argus newspaper in cape town, my many visits to my sister dawn... and observing people driving their cars with their special passengers. they all had one thing in common - and i was fascinated by it - the amazing bond and fantastic way they treated their pets... as if they were children! indeed children! maybe better than ‘human’ children? why? the answer kept evading me... until barbara, my wife, bought me two baby chickens, mary and buffy for my 50th birthday. the answer demisted as the months rolled by... we found ourselves in the same situation as all the other pet ‘parents’ out there... and we were loving every minute of it! i hope this little book of ‘answers’ will bring a shrug, a smile or tear.
