About the Book:

It came quickly, as quickly as it came I grabbed it and took action. It was an idea sparked over a conversation about waking sleeping giants. Thulani Sokhela a good friend of mine was talking about how he believed that he had a lot to offer the world but just did not know where to start. So I laid down a dare for him to take action before the year is over. The year was 2008 and the month October, giving him two months to January 2009.

As I sat there contemplating his response the thought hit me that I could facilitate the waking up of sleeping giants in all people especially the immediate group of which Thulani and I were members of. The group then consisted of seven people, Thulani, Gladness, Zesuliwe, Phumzile, Tumi, Themba and I. So it began that the idea was to collaboratively develop a poetic anthology in which all members of the team would send their contributions and that collectively we would then develop this anthology and be credited accordingly and in so doing waking sleeping giants and spurring people to action.

The idea was that in seeing the success of this step would then spur them on for more action, starting a chain of giants in action so to speak. Between the time that I had the thought and the time of writing this introduction about four hours had passed and I had put together 42 pages of what to me I would like to call illumination. Illumination because I understood what it meant to seize the moment and run with it.

So, with my fellow giants, together we share this with you today as a testament of giants that woke up, took action, chased a dream and collective won the battle through collaborative support for one another and this is the story, read on.

About the Author:

How time flies. Not too long ago I was celebrating the realisation of a long time dream. My first ever book, Spider’s Web, published and available to the entire world. This was without a realisation that I was taking a step, one giant step towards the waking up of a sleeping giant within me. Through the pen, I found my calling. I am a giant woken up, as I take the second step and shout out to the world “One giant step at a time and the journey begins”.

Sleeping Giants is about the waking of sleeping giants and I hope that it gives you enough strength, inspiration and motivation to take that first step, a step towards becoming the giant that you are.
